Everyone has emotions. They just look different on each person. This Middle School Health Emotions unit will help your tween learn to recognize and process their emotions as well as teach them proper emotional responses.
My middle school health curriculum, Living Healthy, kicks off with Personal Hygiene, Nutrition, Fitness and Puberty being the first four units. The curriculum was designed to resemble an online unit study with the addition of a workbook with questions for your tweens to answer to help encourage conversation with you.
Note to parents, please check all links prior to allowing your child to access the internet to ensure they have not changed and keep in mind that all videos should be inspected prior to viewing to ensure you deem it’s appropriate for your child.
If you’d like to use the workbook, you can download it at the bottom of this page.
Middle School Health: Emotions
Lesson One: Recognizing Emotions
This month we’ll be taking a look into the emotions that are more than likely starting to show their faces in your everyday life right about now.
Sometimes it’s hard to recognize the emotions while things are happening, so it’s important to take time to learn what they look like when your emotions aren’t running high.
Emotions can show up at any moment, especially when you’re going through puberty. Learning to recognize your emotions is important to growing up. If you let your emotions control you now, they will control you as an adult.
If you have any questions during or after your lessons, be sure to talk to your mom or dad. They can help you recognize your emotions as well and can answer any questions you may have.

When you combine what you learned last week about recognizing your emotions with how to process them well, you’ll find that you enjoy being around people more often and feel better about yourself.
If you have any questions during or after your lessons, be sure to talk to your mom or dad. They know how difficult processing emotions can be as well and can answer any questions you may have.

It’s important to remember that refocusing your mind is key to directing your emotions the right way. Your feelings can be redirected by focusing on the positive things in your life, which will allow your positive emotions to pull through.
If you have any questions during or after your lessons, be sure to talk to your mom or dad. They can help you learn how to respond correctly emotionally as well and can answer any questions you may have.
