Family movie night is a special time full of fun, laughter and snuggles! I designed this free Family Movie Night Educational Packet to combine a night of fun family time with a bit of learning!
Movies can be both fun and educational. Family nights can be both too! While I don’t think that every family night should be focused on learning, I do believe that if done right, kids won’t even realize they’re “being taught” when you combine the two!
How to Use This Free Family Movie Night Printable
- Pick a Movie
This can be the hardest part of family movie night, can’t it?! If you want to surprise your kids and need ideas, this list of 100+ character-building movies might help!
We used to write the names of movies on slips of paper and put them inside a hat to pick when we couldn’t decide.
There is a page for this use that you can print from the printable below to help pick.
- Plan Ahead
You can make a big deal of your next family movie night using this fun printable. To do so, you’ll need to do a bit of planning ahead to take advantage of the goodies inside.
Whether you have your children participate in the preparation is up to you. Personally, I had a great time putting it all together myself and surprising my children.
Prior to your family movie night, you’ll need to plan a concession menu and price list, print tickets and “money” for all moviegoers and the educational age/grade appropriate pages for your kids.
- The “Educational” Part
The only page from this printable that I would recommend handing out as part of your family movie night is the first page of the appropriate section for your children. However, you know your kids best.
Some children might enjoy completing the entire packet as they watch the movie. While others would prefer to do it after the movie or the following day.
You could even print an additional copy of the Middle School pages for yourself. Then, you could swap them with your kids or read them aloud to each other to see what you each thought and/or saw/learned differently.
- Eat the Snacks and Watch the Movie
I’m sure I didn’t need to include this step, but I don’t like incomplete lists. So, here it is.
Grab the snacks. Bring the blankets. Get quiet.
Make sure to put your phone away. We can’t expect our children to want to take a break from their devices if we can’t do it ourselves.
