These goal-setting worksheets were designed to help you ensure you’re focusing on more than just your children’s education in the upcoming homeschool year!

It is easy to be focused on preparing for reading, writing, arithmetic, etc. However, one of the biggest blessings of homeschooling is that you also have the opportunity to help your child learn and grow in many other ways!
How to Use These New Homeschool Year Goal-Setting Worksheets
The purpose behind these worksheets was to help you both plan and set goals for your children outside of their schoolwork. My own preparation journey for each new homeschool year was the inspiration behind their design.
To be ahead of the “ball game”, that is, a new homeschool year, I recommend you print them out in the summertime. This will give you the opportunity to pay attention to your children ahead of setting goals for them.
The first few worksheets feature goals that I used for myself and my children throughout our homeschooling journey. These may or may not work for you and yours, so feel free to skip printing if not. There is a blank worksheet included for you to use for your own goal-setting.
- Worksheets One and Two
Worksheet one is about molding a specific characteristic in your child. At the top of the page, you’ll fill in your child’s name as well as the name of the characteristic or growth. Worksheet two is about personal growth that you believe your child needs to make.
Doing things in threes tends to work best when setting goals, in my experience. That’s why the next three parts of the worksheets are broken down into three steps.
To help you achieve the goals you listed, there are spaces for three activity ideas. You can plan activities for your child to complete on their own, activity ideas for you to do with your child or a combination of the two.
Following this portion are spaces for progress checks to be completed throughout the homeschool year at the one-, three-, and six-month time periods.
At the bottom of the worksheets, there is a section for you to write a prayer. As with all things in your homeschooling, prayer should be an integral part of this goal-setting process.
- Worksheets Three and Four
These worksheets were designed with me (and you!) in mind. As our children’s teachers, we need to ensure that we are actively growing and becoming better as well.
Keeping with doing things in threes, each section of these worksheets is broken down in the same manner as pages one and two. With goals and opportunities being the focus of worksheet three, while goals and activity ideas are featured on worksheet four.
There are also progress checks and a prayer portion for each of the teacher’s goal-setting worksheets.
- Worksheets Five and Six
The final two worksheets are similar blank versions of the above worksheets. There is a blank version with an activity ideas section as well as one with an opportunities portion.
If the design of these worksheets doesn’t fit you and your perfectly, let them be an inspiration for you to create some of your own.
As people, we always need to be learning and growing. Use these worksheets as an opportunity to teach your children how to set goals and become better on their own! After all, isn’t homeschooling all about raising independent learners?!
