Finding a homeschool geography curriculum can prove challenging (I know because I’ve looked and researched for a few years!), so I’m excited to share a few of the options that I’ve looked into and/or used in our homeschool today! I hope that this geography curriculum round up is helpful for your homeschool planning!

This is a wonderful introduction to world geography using a notebooking approach to learning. The lessons are designed to engage the children’s hearts and minds through variety and interaction. Keeping the notebook will only serve to encourage creativity as they become accustomed to producing a lasting product while experiencing hands-on learning. Most of the literature will be found at your local library, but a few resources are recommended for purchase if you plan to complete most of the suggested activities. (Considering God’s Creation is the core of the science lessons.)

Now includes Activity CD-ROM with printable maps, flags, & activity pages PLUS over 135 Bonus Pages!

This curriculum is in 3 parts; Part 1 contains 30 short history lessons and the drawing lessons and activities are based on the themes of the history lessons.  The lessons start with the beginnings of cartography in ancient Greece, and end with the official discovery of Antarctica in the 1800s. Part 2 contains the drawing lessons and each drawing lesson has step-by-step pictures that guide the student as they draw an area of the world from scratch (starting with nothing but a blank piece of paper).  and Part 3 contains extra activities and worksheets that go with the history lessons and/or the drawing lessons. Activities include extra worksheets for practicing what was learned in the drawing lessons, group games, board games, crafts such as making simple navigational instruments, or art projects (about maps) using paint, crayons or colored pencils.

Each title transports the reader to a specific location while giving the distinct geography, history, and natural science of the area. Paired with each book is a beautiful 24″ by 18″ card stock map. Your student will color each map while labeling countries, states, cities, oceans, lakes, rivers, and national landmarks. The recently-revised Study Guide includes 39 lessons and will help you get the most out of the study by providing discussion questions, web links, vocabulary, book recommendations, and an answer key.
