Thinking about homeschooling but concerned that being self-employed would make it too hard? These Year Round Homeschooling Planning Worksheets were designed specifically for self-employed families!

You don’t have to figure out how to make homeschooling and being self-employed work on your own. I’m here to help!
As you work through these worksheets, I encourage you to use a pencil and have a good eraser on hand; you’ll likely need it!
How to Use My Year Round Homeschooling Planning Worksheets for Self-Employed Families
- Page One
This page is all about your work schedule. You’ll need to have your work days, hours (daily and weekly), days off (including holidays), vacation time and other work considerations/obligations on hand to complete this page.
Fill out each of the sections of the form to get a full picture of what your work schedule looks like daily, weekly and yearly.
Be sure to fill out page one before starting on page two. The information from page one will determine what you can put on pages two and three.
- Pages Two and Three
Pages two and three will help you determine what your year round homeschooling schedule could look like: daily, weekly, monthly and yearly.
Take time to look over page one as you work through pages two and three. You don’t want to overextend yourself or overwhelm your children by doing too much work or homeschooling.
**Nothing you put on these pages is set in stone. Try to be reasonable in your expectations of yourself and your kids. It is easier to add more later than deal with feelings of overwhelm or failure. **
- Page Four
Filling out the final page is to be completed only after you’ve done pages 1-3 AND taken time to consider and pray over them. Don’t rush into this page by simply “copying and pasting” the information from the previous pages.
Truly consider what you want your days, both work and homeschool times, to look like. Next, consider what daily schedule would work best for you and your children. Be open to homeschooling on the weekends if your work schedule is heavy during the week.
This final page should showcase the best homeschool schedule for you as a self-employed family. If it doesn’t appear realistic or is overzealous, that’s ok.
All homeschool schedules are a work-in-progress. You can either use that good eraser I recommended you have on hand or print another copy of the worksheets to revamp your schedule.
I am a Veteran Self-Employed Year Round Homeschool Mom.
I was always a self-employed homeschool mom throughout our entire homeschooling journey. In the beginning, we followed a “normal” homeschool schedule and that was rough.
Making the change to homeschooling year round was a game-changer. It allowed for more family time and freedom to take days off when we needed it.
Most of all, it gave me the ability to do what my heart wanted to do most: stay home with my children. Which, for us, wouldn’t have been possible if I hadn’t been able to contribute to our family’s finances.
You don’t have to give up being a working mom, if you don’t want to or if you need to, just to homeschool your children. You can do both, but year round homeschooling makes it easier and much more enjoyable!
