It is important for our children to know the Easter Story because it is essential to their faith! If we, as parents, are not diligently teaching them God’s Word while they are in our home then we are not fulfilling our calling from the Lord.
The likelihood of our children remaining in the Christian faith is greatly dependent on the teaching they receive in our home. We must be faithful to the Lord and our children to ensure that they know what Easter is really about.
I believe it is necessary to teach our children from God’s Word directly the majority of the time. However, there are moments when storybooks are right for the moment. Visual learners are most benefited from the reading of storybooks with pictures.
As my children traded storybooks for chapter books, there were still nights when I grabbed a favorite storybook of theirs to read to them. Most of the time they were kind and indulged me.
Hold the memories of reading storybooks to your children in your heart. They will be precious memories before you know it.
