Good morning Lord, it’s morning again and I’ve got my coffee in hand. I’m here to share a bit of my heart, a homeschool mother’s prayer, to start my day rightly with you.

I don’t understand how a night’s sleep can go by so quickly. Still, You’ve blessed me with another day, so if you could please walk alongside me to keep me on my way I know it will be ok. I know what you’ve called me to do, but sometimes it isn’t easy to do.

Some days I don’t know where to even begin and other days I wish the day would just come to an end. I’m supposed to be educating them, Lord, but often I feel like I should just be Your student, so how can I even begin to teach them? Yet, they are growing up before my eyes and there is much to be done.

I know that I must focus, I must keep my eyes on You and ensure that through it all I’m pointing them to You. If I teach them their multiplication facts and historical dates, but I fail to teach them of You and Your word, Lord, I’m wasting our days. As I’m gathering the homeschooling materials we’ll use throughout this year, please guide me to use materials that will honor You and encourage my children to continue seeking You.

When our homeschool days seem long, teach me to recognize the signs of weariness before frustration begins. Help to realize when we all need to take a break or change up our homeschool days to add in more fun. I know that learning is more likely to happen when it isn’t all book work, give me ideas for using more hands-on learning in our homeschool days to make learning fun!

Help my children, Lord, to be ready to learn each day, no matter what may come their way. Prepare their hearts to be willing to use the minds that You’ve blessed them with to discover and learn more about the world You’ve made. Cause them to love the opportunities that their homeschool education gives them every day. Allow them to recognize that they are truly blessed, by being able to learn and be homeschooled. Open their eyes to see the blessings that education can unfold.

Lastly Lord, please strengthen me. Many days I feel too weary and inadequate to fulfill this calling to homeschool, my children. I do not doubt Your calling, I doubt myself, Lord. Give me strength to soar up on eagle’s wings to fulfill the calling and dreams You’ve given me.
