Every year I go through a 5 step process to begin my homeschool year. I believe each step is important to remaining focused and teaching my children well, all year long. The first step on my homeschool prep journey each year is praying. I believe that the only way to ensure that I stay on the right path for our homeschool journey is to bathe the upcoming year in prayer.
It is very easy to get distracted, frustrated and exhausted as a homeschool mom. These truths push me to ensure I’m diligently praying prior to our homeschool year kicking off.
A few of the things I pray for specifically are…
- My heart
- My priorities
- My children’s hearts
- Curriculum Finances
- Curriculum Selection
- Homeschool Schedule
My prayer life has never been what I know it should be, so I have to be very intentional. A few years ago, I created a prayer journal to help me stay focused in praying for my children and our homeschool.
Each homeschool year is unique unto itself, but there are specific preparations that a homeschool mom needs to make yearly. From planning to purchases, from purposing to prospering, each stage of preparation is important to every homeschool year.
While each step of preparing for a new homeschool year is important, the most essential step is a homeschool mother’s prayer. Your homeschool year preparations may look very different from my own, however, prayer is the first preparation step a homeschool mom should take.
