As homeschoolers it is important that we do not just sit down and teach our children. Sitting down to textbooks and working through the chapters, Q&A, etc. will quickly bore and/or frustrate us and our kids. Homeschooling is more than just schoolwork.

Homeschooling is a blessing to us and our children, we need to ensure that we are using it to it’s FULL potential. Schoolwork is necessary, we are responsible for our children’s education, but education is more than textbooks.

Giving our children a balanced education means we need to ensure our children are experiencing homeschooling. Life and lessons are meant to be experienced, our children need hands-on learning opportunities, kids need to discover things on their own outside their door and they need to go see things they won’t find in their backyard!

It is important that when we plan our homeschool year that we fit in as many of these experiences as we can! The more our kids are experiencing learning, the more they will want to learn!

Experiencing year round homeschooling is accomplished all year long. So, you don’t have to plan out each learning experience, they will find their way into your days. Be prepared to be flexible so that you and your children have the opportunity to experience things together!

Some of the best experiences that your children will have throughout your homeschooling journey are those that creep up into your days and you grasp the opportunity to discover with them! Homeschooling isn’t just educating your children, it is a family adventure.

No matter what homeschooling method you use, you can add learning experiences into your homeschool.

Some of my children’s favorite experiences are free, from hiking to fishing, to sports and literature. An easy way to get started is to take your child’s favorite school subject and add some fun learning activities that they can experience! From crafts to music, to field trips and movies, the options are limitless for experiencing homeschooling! Use your imagination, search Pinterest, ask your kids what they would like to do, don’t let textbooks or an over-planned homeschool schedule keep you and your children from experiencing homeschooling!

Year Round Homeschooling Tip #15

Take some time to watch your kids this week during their break/play time. Discover what they like to do when they aren’t “learning”, then figure out a way to incorporate it into your homeschool.

Experiencing homeschooling is key to seeing your children love learning!
